Around 9:00 AM Saturday January 22nd 2022 Eastern Washington Expeditions members met up at the Club House in Selah. We convoyed with three Jeeps and a Mitsubishi to the Cowiche Mill Road entrance of the Ahtanum State Forest and met up with TJ40 with his Jeep. We ran to the end of the county road and aired down.

We headed on up the snow covered road. On the way up Mr Miyagi got stuck so Doc went back to help since Doc was the closest. We waited awhile and didn’t hear them on the CB. So TJ40 went back and helped everyone get back on the hard pack. We waited at the intersection of Reynolds Creek Road & C1300 that takes you up to Hatton Road.

Once we were all back together, we climb C1300 and got on Hatton Road. On Hatton Road we found water under the snow in places. I got stuck on my way back through to see everyone was. TJ40 gave me a pull out.

Mr Miyagi ran out of ground clearance and got stuck. They tried their traction boards out and they did not work. I gave them a pull out using their recovery rope. The rope worked well.

We headed on up and stopped for lunch in the trees. We had a good time talking about past and future events.

After lunch Mr Miyagi decided to stay and wait for us to get back. TJ40 went up the trail to see if it was passable. We met up with him and then pushed on up the ridge.

Close to the top of the ridge the snow was deep and hard to stay on top of. I got stuck so bad TJ40 could not pull me out with a recovery strap. He went to move around to a better location and got stuck himself. I winch him out and then he tied his rig off to a tree so I would stop winching him backwards.

During the time TJ40 got stuck trying to get me unstuck, Charlie got stuck in his ZJ. Some guys in Side by Sides tried to help, but Charlie was stuck good. I went up and turned around then Doc got stuck turning around. They shoveled around Doc’s YJ and he was able to move again. Once we were out of TJ40’s way, he pulled Charlie out and we were on our way back down.

We headed back down to meet back up we Mr Miyagi. On the way down Charlie lost a bead and needed help. After they got the tire aired back up, everyone regrouped at the lunch stop area.

We headed back down and air back up at the county road. This was a great time thanks to all who came. The weather was perfect and the view was great up there.
