Boulder Cave Hike and Sightseeing Drive
Report & photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures
On Saturday July 5th, 2010 we took a trip to see Boulder Cave near Cliffdell Washington.
Here are some pictures of our day.
Reading the rules.
The first view point.
Looking off.
Kids taking a break waiting for us.
Down the hill toward the cave.
Looking back at the trail down.
Talking over the rules again with the kids.
Here goes nothing.
Looking back at the light.
It was very dark in the middle. Lucky we had flashlights.
Here is coming out the other side of the cave.
Looking back.
Climbing back up.
Once back at the parking area the family loaded up in the rig as I talked with Deputy Sutliff from the Yakima County Sheriff”s Office about some Yakima/Kittitas Forest Watch Association stuff.
We headed out and decided to go check out some of the area. Our first stop was at Raven Roost. The clouds covered Mt. Rainier so the view was not as great as it could have been.
It was cold at Raven Roost so only Monster and I got out.
We headed back down the mountain and stopped to let the kids run.
After a short break we headed on down.
We swung through Long Meadow came to fine most campers were gone and some left their campfires burning.
The Forest Service was there putting them out.
Next we headed toward Little Bald Mountain. On the way was saw a lot of elk.
At the old Little Bald Mountain lookout location we could see Mt. Rainier.
We let the kids out at the cabin where it was safer.
After a short time we headed on down toward home. This was a great day.
