On Friday September 23rd, 2005, WUD Wheelers 4×4 Club members met up at Yeti’s Family’s Cabin on the North Fork Ahtanum Road near Ahtanum Meadows to camp for the weekend and to hit some 4×4 trails.

On Saturday we headed up the Mid Fork Ahtanum. One of the Scouts had some carb problems around Tree Phones. They got the Scout going and headed on up to Darland Mountain where we took a break.

The next stop was at Blue Lake for lunch. One of the CJ’s was over heating on the way there.

After lunch half of the rigs headed back to the cabin since two of the rigs were having problems. The other four rigs headed on up Blue Slide. On the way we pasted a built looking Suburban with a bunch of aftermarket gadgets. They were looking for Big Foot. We turned down 4W613 and made our way back out to the cabin by the Strobach Mountain 4×4 Trail and Nasty Creek.

Back at the cabin we found Yakima County Search & Rescue in the driveway. Remember the rigs that turned back at Blue Lake? Two of the passengers of one of the Jeeps got out of after an argument and walked off. The driver could not get them back in. They group searched but could not find where they went, so they came back to the cabin and called 911. One of the lost guys showed back up at the cabin by getting a ride from the Big Foot Searcher’s Suburban. They had saw the WUD sign on the way up and know that is where this guy belonged. The search went through the night and into the morning for the other guy. We went and topped off our gas tanks in the morning at the Tampico Store when we got a call on the CB saying the other guy had been found and was at the Naches Ranger Station in Naches. He had walked off of 4W615 on Divide Ridge down to FS1000 and got a ride from there to Naches.
