99 call an Eastern Washington Off Road 4×4 Run at the Ahtanum State Forest to find some snow. She knew there had to be some up there because we can see the snow from Yakima. Here is our trip.

On Sunday, October 14th, 2007, we started off by running Nasty Creek Road up to the Strobach Mountain 4×4 Trail. We ran into two Jeeps coming down. One was dragging out “rednk1980’s” broken Toyota. Oh what a feeling!

On Strobach Mountain we took a look off at Rimrock and Mount Rainier. Then headed up 4W613 toward Jackass Road. The hill climb before the 4W613 Upper Meadow was a little slick. The Dome Peak Fire Area was nice without all the summer deep dust since it was damp. Climbing up Foundation Ridge from the 4W613 Lower Meadow was a lot of fun with a lot of slick in places. We started to find more snow as we pasted the cattle guard. Up on top of Foundation Ridge at Jackass Road, we took a right and headed toward Blue Slide Lookout.

We stopped at the newly remodeled cabin at Blue Slide Lookout to check it out. It was a lot better then it had been.

Next we when down 4W615 to Blue Lake, then we dropped down to the North Fork Ahtanum Road. We ran it across Darland Mountain. There wasn’t much snow
on the road. Next we ran down to the Sno-park, up A2400, A2420 and onto Sedge Ridge 4×4 Trail. We ran that to the cross above Cultus Hole. There was a great view of the stars.

It was getting late so we ran South Fork Ahtanum Road out and back home.

This was a great wheeling weekend for us. Sand dunes on Saturday and mountain snow on Sunday.
