Copper City 4×4 Trail – The Copper City Trail begins at Deep Creek Road #1808 and ends at Miners Ridge. This trail has been adopted by the PNW4WDA “Hombres” Club.

Sunday October 4th, 2015 was day three of the annual Wagons East – Naches Pass Trail 4×4 Run Camp out. On this day the group left camp at Lost Meadows with three Jeeps and headed toward the Copper City 4×4 Trail. Along the way the group stopped to meet up with Don and his son in their XJ.

Next was the long bumpy road toward Bumping Lake. At the end of the pavement the group aired down for the long trip up the rough Forest Service roads.

Once at the Copper City Trailhead, the group took a short break and snapped a few photos.

Next was the trail run. Not far up the trail there was the ruins of Copper City bunkhouse and mill.

Just around the corner, the trail started to climb with a lot of bridges and a steep drop on the passenger side. The approach angles for the bridges were not so great in the wider wheel base Jeeps and the JK Unlimited was kind of too long not to run over the rails. Their is one off camber section without any trees that was a little scary. Getting closer to the top of the ridge, their are a lot of downfalls you have to squeeze though. Right after that section the trail goes through a flatter area and then ends at a big meadow.

At the meadow the trail become a hiking trail that takes you to some old mines. There are ruins of a cabin. Some of the group hiked up to see the mines and then returned to eat lunch.

After lunch, the group headed back down the trail to Copper City stopping to check out the old mill site and cabin. One of the little girls in the group got stung twice by hornets. They gave her first aid and then headed back to camp to pack up for home.

This was another great day with a great group of people on a fun trail.

On a side note; on the way home, my son and I stopped off at Whistlin’ Jack for dinner. The food and service was great.
