On Saturday March 25th, 2017, Eastern Washington Adventures members met up at Curly’s II in Kittitas, Washington for the annual Eastern Washington Adventures Top Member Challenge.
We convoyed to Colockum Road for the Eastern Washington Adventures Top Member Challenge. We stopped and to air down before the climb up the ridge.
We aired down and headed up Colockum Pass to find a good starting point. The snow was very workable to stay on top of as long as you stayed in the center of the road. We started the Eastern Washington Adventures Top Member Challenge on top of the ridge at the first power lines. The challenge was the first one to the Halfway Station Marker. Since there was a small turn out, the two in the challenge voted to let AlwayswrenchN in with tires bigger than 35×12.50.
We lined up the challenge member rigs with mine that was on the hard pack. Left to Right; AlwayswrenchN – YJ, TJ40 with Guido as co-pilot – TJ, the judges Ceg and Ron the Parts Guy – JKU, and Phil – YJ.
We hit a softer snow just past the Powerline Road. There were a few rigs stuck along the way. Only rigs competing could help each other out and being good sports they did.
At the last open area near Halfway Station, I let the guy know the marker was on the other side of the fence. TJ40 had already buried it and Phil did right after. We caught up to AlwayswrenchN to watch him finish the challenge.
AlwayswrenchN went back and pulled Phil out and then TJ40. Everyone came up to Halfway Station and ate lunch. During the break, AlwayswrenchN’s girls came to check out the Halfway Station Marker. One dug it out to read it.
After lunch we headed on down the north slope of Naneum Ridge. We stopped and headed back out at a big off camber snow drift.
This was a very fun day thanks to who all came.
