On Sunday March 4th, 2018, Eastern Washington Adventures members met up downtown Kittitas, Washington for the annual Top Member Challenge.
We convoyed to Colockum Road. We aired down and headed up Colockum Pass to find a good starting point. The snow was soft and deep.
We started the Top Member Challenge on top of the ridge at the first power lines. The challenge was the first one to the Halfway Station Marker or the farthest ahead at 3 PM.
We lined up the challenge member rigs. Left to Right; AlwayswrenchN – YJ, James – YJ, and TJ40 – TJ. We had two Jeeps and a side-by-side follow along.
I rode with TJ40, so Guido flagged the start line this year. The challenge started following another groups tracks until Powerline Road. Even following the other groups track, a few of our rigs got stuck along the way. We also pulled out a guy from the other group that was stuck.
Once we had to break trail, it started being Winchfest 2018. The snow was very challenging. James was doing very well for awhile until he got into a real deep soft drift. TJ40 past him and got out front.
AlwayswrenchN was behind for awhile. He caught up and we think he may have taken James’s line. We were a ways ahead stuck when the time hit 3 PM. The Top Member Challenge was over and TJ40 won. He had to winch a few times to get turned around. AlwayswrenchN and Blind Pilot (in the side-by-side) came to help.
We all headed back down the ridge with a few stucks on the way. A the bottom we aired up and headed out. A few of us stopped at the The Tav for dinner.
This was a very fun day thanks to who all came.
