Eastern Washington Expeditions
Wagons East (Naches Pass) 4×4 Trip
Hosted by Eastern Washington Off Road
Report by Clay Graham. Photos & Video by Clay & Odo Graham
Wagons East is our clubs Jeep trip on the Historical Naches Pass Trail. The trail is famous because the Longmire party was the first wagon train to used it to head west in 1853. The trail was not finished so they had a rough time getting across. They had to winch down the Naches Trail Cliffs near Greenwater. On our Wagons East Jeep trip, we start at the Naches Trail Cliffs and go west to east.
On Thursday, October 6th 2022, Odo and I headed up to the Lost Meadow Campground in the Little Naches area to set up camp for the Eastern Washington Expeditions Wagons East camp out. Odo made Fish & Chips for dinner.
Friday morning it was warm. Odo made breakfast and then we took a drive. Most pulled into cap just after 6 PM. Odo in the EWE Chuckwagon Mess Hall to cook up some Dutch Oven Enchiladas for dinner.
Saturday morning Odo and Kodye made us breakfast burritos. Skydiver showed up around 8:30 AM in he LJ. Nevada and his Dad came in with their rigs on trailers around 9 AM. Everyone got their rigs ready and we headed out for the trail at 10 AM.
We headed over Pyramid Pass to the west end of the Naches Pass 4×4 Trail. Some walked down to see the Naches Cliff. As soon as they came back up, we took off to hit the Naches Pass 4×4 Trail. Kevin (AKA TJ4o) lead the way.
We stopped for lunch at Government Meadows. Behind the cabin they were making a wood shed.
After lunch we headed on east taking some photos along the way.
The last section I got my YJ stuck on some roots between two trees due to not having tall enough tires for the holes around the roots. Two years ago before the lift, the YJ was lower than stock and I made it through with the same tires. Kevin pulled my YJ through and we stopped to watch the other go through that tight section.
Back at camp Don L and 99 were waiting for us. Nevada and his Dad headed home. I took Foxracer up to the “Cell Phone Booth” so he could call home.
Back at camp we had a potluck. EWE Chuckwagon made pizza and cooked it in the Camp Chef Pizza Oven. We had fun telling stories around the propane campfires.
Sunday morning the weather was nice. We had a good breakfast cooked by volunteers at the EWE Chuckwagon. Skydriver and Foxracer headed home after breakfast and the rest of us took a drive up to Raven Roost. It was very nice and warm up there. We headed back to camp and loaded for home.
This was a great time thanks to all who came.
