Eastern Washington Off Road
Naches Christmas Tree Snow Wheeling Trip
Report & photos by Clay Graham / CegPics.com
About 10:00 AM on Sunday December 1st 2024, we met up at Oak Creek Ace Hardware in Naches. We had four rigs on this trip (2 YJ, 1 ZJ & 1 JKUR).
We convoyed to the Little Naches area. We aired down at Lost Meadow and then headed up FS1906.
The snow started getting deep not far up the road. There were only two snowmobile tracks on the road. I was running 10 PSI in my 31×10.50 KM3s and they did not do as good as I had hoped as the snow got deep enough for the YJ’s front axle started pushing snow. I had Odo take over breaking trail in his JKUR and I still had to cut trail a little since the YJ tracks are not as wide as JKs.
At the end of FS1906 we took a break and looked for Christmas Trees. We could not find any trees small enough so we back tracked and went up FS1961.
The snow got deeper as we climbed. My YJ was not able to follow Odo’s JKUR tracks because my tires were digging to much in the deep snow. We dropped the YJ’s tires to 5 PSI and still was not able to stay on top of the powder snow. The front axle was still pushing snow.
We turned around and back tracked down the mountain. We stopped two different places before we found Christmas Tree sized trees.
After getting two trees, we headed back to Lost Meadow and aired up for home.
This was a fun trip thanks to all who came.
