Eastern Washington Off Road
Wenas Wildlife Area Fall Backroads Trip
Report & photos by Clay Graham / CegPics.com
About 9:45 AM on Tuesday October 15th 2024, we met up at Graham Family Farm. We convoyed with 3 rigs (YJ, LJ, & Bronco) to the south end of Durr Road at the Wenas Wildlife Area and aired down.
We headed up Durr Road, turned on Bull Pasture Road, and up Bell Tel Road. We stop stopped for a break when we got to the top of Umtanum Ridge.
After the break, we ran the Umtanum Ridge Road west and stopped at the west end of the top of the Umtanum Ridge for the view. On a clear day there is a great view of Mount Rainier from there. Not that day.
Next was on down to the pavement of North Wenas Road, up Audubon Road, Mud Flats Road, Up Observatory Road, and then took a break at the Manastash Observatory.
We took Hanson Pond Road out, turned west on Umtanum Road, took Durr Road south, and then stopped at the towers on Umtanum Ridge for the last view. Being cloudy, we could only see so far.
We continued south on Durr Road to head out. Near the pond we had to stop because Clifford had a breakdown. Two of the three driver’s side hub bolts broke and one was missing. Derryn had to get back to the west side so his cousin didn’t miss a flight. I stayed until Clifford’s parts came up with his partner.
Here are some photos of the trip:
