Blue Mountains Overland Trip – Day 2

On Monday July 9th, 2018, Eastern Washington Adventures Club members woke up early in the hot tents at Umatilla National Forest Bone Springs Warming Shelter in Oregon. We had breakfast and hit the road.
The first stop was at Jubilee Lake. We took a look around then headed on.
Next we drove by Timothy Springs Campground to see it and then onto Lookout Mountain for lunch. Most of the guys hiked in to see the lookout. Doc and I stayed back at the rigs.
The next stop was at Troy, Oregon. There most everyone went for a swim in the Grande Ronde River. We picked up some supplies at the store, then headed up the mountain.
Back in Washington Don’s Jeep Cherokee stared to over heat with the hot weather and steep climbs. We stopped twice on our way to find a camp for the night.
We checked out the Misery Drift Inn to camp at but decided we would keep looking. I am glad we did, because we found an awesome place to camp called, “Misery Campground”.
We set up camp and had dinner. Most everyone took a drive to see the sunset. Doc and I just walked over an looked off the mountain.
The night was warm and the stars were bright.
