Little Bald Mountain Backroads Trip
Report & photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures
Sunday August 19th, 2012 I took the family for a backroads run up to Little Bald Mountain to get out of the valley heat.
We headed east on SR-410. In Nile Valley we took FS1600 and headed up to Little Bald Mountain.
At Little Bald Mountain we took in the views. It was kind of hazy but was able to see Mount Rainier.
We signed in at the shelter and headed back down the mountain.
Along the way we saw some sheep following a motorcycle. The sheep stopped and went up the hill as the motorcycle past us.
We turned off of FS1600 onto FS1706 to take it down for some different scenery.
Once back on SR-410 we headed east.
We stopped at Squaw Rock Resort to check out the RV campsites for a future trip.
Here are some photos of our Little Bald Mountain Backroads Trip:
Heading up FS1600.
At the intersection of FS1600 & FS1706.
At the intersection FS1600 & 231. There use to be a sign showing the way to Clover Springs and Little Bald Mountain.
We took the right and drove up to the old lookout site.
Mount Rainier.
The views are great and the fall is deadly.
I moved down to the shelter to get the kids.
Odo wanted me to take a look inside.
Things on the wall.
The outhouse.
The sheep we saw on the way down.

This was a fun family adventure.
