On Thursday, May 2nd, 2019, my sons Charlie, Odo and I headed up to BBQ Flats at the Wenas Recreation Area to set up camp for the weekend camp out.
On Friday evening other campers started pulling in. We stayed up late visiting.
On Saturday, May 4th, 2019, volunteers and Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) met up at our camp for the clean up. There were volunteers from Eastern Washington Adventures, Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association, and others just wanting to make a difference too.
At 10 AM groups headed out to replace Green Dot markers and pick up trash. We made our way up onto Cleman Mountain and back down picking up Trash on DNR, WDFW, and Forest Service Land. We fixed a few of the Green Dot signs on DNR managed land.
Coming back down the mountain, the pickup we were using had a flat. Thank you to Doug Conner, Kevin Elliot, and a few others for helping get the truck fixed enough to get back to camp.
We got back to camp around 3:00 PM and turned the tools and trash into Sierra with the DNR. Two of the volunteers ran over to Cascade Camp to pick up a big chair someone dropped off. Volunteers helped Sierra tie down the load near the pavement. It was a great work party.
The Eastern Washington Adventures Club had a Cinco de Mayo potluck dinner for whoever wanted to attend. Some had to head home after dinner and the rest relaxed around the campfire.
Sunday was a very nice day. Everyone packed up and headed home.
This was a great time thanks to all who came out.
