On April 11th, 2009 we drove up the South Fork Ahtanum Road to checking the snow level at the Ahtanum State Forest.

Here is the new DNR signs where the road turns to dirt.

I turn up the Boulder Trail and ran into some deep patches of snow toward the top.

Up on the Sedge Ridge Crest Trail there was only a few places where the snow was melted and you could see dirt.

I pressed on knowing I could call my son in Tampico to save me if I got stuck.

Walking on top with 25 PSI.

Sure glad I keep a shovel in the rig.

We head back out and got to Tampico at dark.

I can’t wait to get back up there with the other XJ aired down and with a group so I can really press my luck.
