Around 10 AM Sunday, June 13th 2021, Eastern Washington Expeditions members met up at the Tampico Store for the Ahtanum State Forest 4×4 Trip. It looked like rain so we put the bikini top on the YJ. We convoyed to Red Saddle Trailhead and aired down.
We next headed up to Red Saddle and turned up the Sedge Ridge 4×4 Trail. We ran the trail to just past the Cultus Hole turn off. We were stopped by big snow drifts across the trail. We knew if we made it over them that we still would not make it up the last hill climb with snow on it. We turned around and headed back down. We ran South Fork Road down and then turn back up near the bottom end of South Fork Road. We worked our way up to the top of Sedge Ridge and ran the ridge east to the end over Tampico. We had lunch and took some photos of the Yakima Valleys below. then ran the ridge west and then down 2420 back onto Red Saddle Road and out to the pavement.
We turned up North Fork Road and then climb the Jackass Cutoff AKA North Fork Short Cut, than ran Jackass Road up to the top of Foundation Ridge, then turn to run Doe Pocket down to the Nasty Creek Corrals. We stopped for a break on the way down the last section and noticed Charlie’s tire had a nail in it. We plugged the tire and move on down the ridge. Then it started raining. We did not get too wet since we put the bikini top on earlier. We aired up at nasty Creek Corrals and headed for home.
