Divide Ridge 4×4 Trip
Hosted by Eastern Washington Off Road
Report & photos by Clay Graham / CegPics.com
On Sunday September 4th 2022 we met up at Tampico Store around 10 AM to run Divide Ridge in the Ahtanum State Forest. On this trip we had 2 YJs, 1 TJ, 1 LJ, and a Land Cruiser.
We convoyed to Red Saddle Trailhead and aired down.
We headed up the Mid Fork Ahtanum Road. We saw some friendly deer and then on up found Eagle Nest was closed. The road turned to powder dirt after Clover Flats Campground.
Up on Darland Mountain we stopped twice for photos. It was clear enough to see Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Goat Rocks, Mt. Rainier, Steward Mountain, the Yakima Valleys, and much more.
We next headed to Blue Lake. We saw more deer on the Blue Lake Trail. Once at Blue Lake we had lunch.
After lunch we headed up 4W615 to Blue Slide Lookout. Once at the top we stopped for the view. Our dog Shelby was tired from playing ball and swimming in Blue Lake so she didn’t get out of the Jeep.
We headed across the ridge and dropped down 4W613. The trail was a little tight in spots. We stopped for a break at the Lower Meadow.
We climbed from the Lower Meadow past Dome Peak and stopped for a photo at the Upper Meadow overlooking the Yakima Valleys.
Dropping down from the Upper Meadow toward Strobach Mountain was challenging with all the big rocks.
We stopped for a break at the Strobach Mountain Vista. Mount Rainier was hiding in the clouds. You could see boats moving across Rimrock Lake.
We decided to skip the rest of 4W613 since it was already 5 PM. We took the Strobach Mountain 4×4 Trail to Nasty Creek Road and headed for the pavement. At Nasty Creek Corrals we aired up and parted ways.
This was a get trip thanks to all who came.
