Yakima Training Center Open House
Report & photos by Clay Graham / Selah Adventures – Selah Community & Tourism.
On Thursday October 15th, 2015 the Yakima Training Center held an open house for Selah city leaders.
To start off the day, members of the Yakima Training Center explained what the base is for and what is does. The different departments heads talked about what they do on base.
The next part was very cool. As the group walked over to the demonstration area, a Black Hawk came in and landed.
There was a demonstration of some of the target that they use for training soldiers.
Next the group had a chance to ask the soldiers questions about their equipment. The group was able to get in the Black Hawk helicopter and some of the vehicles that are on the base.
The Yakima Training Center Fire Department and Selah Fire Department did a joint demonstration of a car fire and rescue to show their partnership.
There was a lunch break on Base at the Pacific Rim Cafe’. The food was very good.
After lunch, the group took a walk over to the medical helicopter area. The crew of a medical Black Hawk explained what their jobs were and gave a tour of the helicopter.
This was a very educational day on the Yakima Training Center.
