#throwbackthrusday – March 2012 was the last time we had the Forest Watch Volunteer Booth ( ForestWatchVP.org ) at the Spanaway Moonshiners Jeep Club 4×4 Swapmeet. Ron the Web Guy donated us space to set up with his old business.

On Saturday March 19th 2022 we met at the Shell Station in Kittitas for the annual Top Member Challenge. We topped of our fuel and headed to Colockum Road. It was raining as we headed up Colockum Road. A few miles up Colockum Road we stopped to air down and the rain turned to snow. This was supposed to be a snow wheeling trip but it wasn’t looking good for deep snow. Scott decided to take his F150 up to see how well it would do.

Up on top leaving the power lines, we were disappointed to find there was not enough snow for the challenge. There was still enough to play in coming up in front of us so we moved up.

We took a break at Halfway Station. We left the F150 there and headed down the ridge. We drove on north down Colockum Road and stop to look down at the Columbia River, Crescent Bar, and the Quincy area. The wind was cold there so we decided to head back and have lunch in the trees.

After lunch we headed back up Colockum Pass. We stopped at the Colockum Wildlife Area Plaque.

Back at Halfway Station TJ40 pulled Scott’s F150 back out on the road since it was stuck there.

On the way down toward Kittitas we all played on the road driving where there were no tracks in the snow for the 4×4 snow wheeling adventure. Scott got his F150 stuck first. TJ40 pulled Scott’s F150 and then Scott pulled out my YJ. I got stuck trying to crawl through the deep stuff with little 30×9.50 KO2s.

Back at the power lines we turned off Colockum Road. We ran Brushy Road, Beacon Road, and out Parke Creek Road. We aired up down at the parking area before parting ways.

This was a great time thanks to all who came.

#flashbackfriday – March 2020, YJ

#flashbackfriday – March 2020 we drove to the Tri-Cities so Doc could buy this Jeep. He worked hard, saved and bought it on his own. I had to drive it back home since Doc was still 15 years old and had not started driver training. Within the last two years Doc has built the Jeep to be a good trail rig. 33×12.50 KM2s, lift kit, rear locker, rear bumper and swing out tire carrier, tube fenders, winch plate, winch, and recovery hooks. Maybe some other stuff. Doc drove it to town the other day and now the engine sounds like it is shot. Just Empty Every Pocket

News: More Closures Coming to Washington State Managed Land

Washington State is at it again. As a snow wheeler that has been at the Ahtanum State Forest since 2004 during the melt off, I can tell you these gates are BS. Another map shows them closing a Green Dot Road going across private land, but not new route around it. They use to give you the same miles that took to open other roads. They keep taken and we are losing access to areas since there is no reroute. This is just two of the things I see wrong here. Look at the whole list of what they have planned. https://publicinput.com/greendot#0
