Halloween Backroads Trip to Jumpoff Lookout

On Saturday, October 30th 2021, we met up at Oak Creek Ace Hardware in Naches around 10 AM. We then convoyed to Oak Creek Wildlife Area. We aired down at Windy Point on FS1302.

We took FS1302 up to the top of the ridge and stopped to see the views just before the radio towers. It was a nice clear day so we could see pretty far.

We moved on up the ridge on FS1302. We stopped at Jump Vista for some photos and then went over to the historical Jumpoff Lookout for lunch.

After lunch we headed down Reynolds Creek and out Cowiche Mill Road. We stopped and air up at the pavement.

This was a great time thanks to all who came.

On Saturday, October 23rd 2021, the group met up at the Shell Gas Station in Kittitas about 10 AM and topped off the fuel tanks. We then convoyed to the Naneum Ridge State Forest. We aired down on Coleman Creek Road.

We headed up Coleman Creek Road onto Dawson Road. We drove by some of the campsites to show the new guys where we make came in the future. We took Boulder Road over to Naneum Creek and stopped for lunch.

After lunch we headed up Swift Creek Road and then turned up the rocky road to climb up onto Naneum Ridge. As we climbed we drove into the clouds and it got colder. The plants had ice and snow on them. There was a little snow falling. Once on the Naneum Ridge we drove to Wenatchee Mountain. The views of the valleys were not there but it was still worth the trip.

We moved on running the Naneum Ridge Road all the way to Colockum Road and took a break there. It was clear enough to see the Columbia River, Quincy and Quincy Lakes.

Next we headed up Colockum Road. We stopped at the Historical Marker. The site of Halfway Station Colockum Pass between Ellensburg and Wenatchee. Freight and immigrant route from the Dalles Oregon and Ruby Mines B.C. 1887

Then we continued over Colockum Pass and made our way down to the power lines. We ran Brushy Road, Beacon Road, and then out Parke Creek Road. We saw a lot of deer along the way. We aired up near the pavement and then headed for home.

On Saturday, October 16th 2021, members met up at Graham Family Farm around 10 AM. We convoyed through the Yakima River Canyon seeing the site along the way.

Once in Ellensburg we headed to the Ellensburg/Wenas Pass. At the end of pavement on Umtanum road we stopped and aired down. We headed over the pass and turned up Hanson Pond Road. Once at Hanson Pond we took a short break. We then headed on up to the top of Manastash Ridge. We stopped at the view point and then again at the Manastash Ridge Observatory for lunch.

After lunch we headed down Observatory Road. We turned up the Mud Flats Road and then up the Manastash Ridge Road. We ran W-5600 and down Hudson Road onto the North Fork Wenas Road. We stopped at Cascade Camp to use the Outhouse and then headed out Auduban Road. At the pavement we aired back up. Some headed home and the rest of us went back to Graham Family Farm for the Oktoberfest Dinner.
