On Sunday, June 20th 2021,  we had Steve show up with his CJ3B. The Eastern Washington Expeditions group headed out from camp at the Naneum Ridge State Forest to go run the trails in the Colockum Wildlife Area after breakfast from the EWE Chuckwagon.

We drove up Coleman Road, east onto Swift Creek Road, east on Naneum Ridge Road and stopped for a break close to Colockum Road.

After the break we took Colockum Road north, West on North Fork Road, South on Tarpiscan Road, east on Brewton Road, continuing east on Tekison Creek Road to the locked gate that lets you into West Bar. We had one stop along the way so the dogs could get a drink of cold water. Lucky we did since they did not get to go into the Columbia River as planned. From Colockum Road it took two hours driving on rocks to find the road to West Bar had a locked gate during the open season. Others have gone around the locked gate, but I am not the one to drive in closed areas even when they are supposed to be open.

We headed back a different way to see different things. We headed up Little Brushy Road. That road had some powder dirt on it but it beat those rocks. Not to far to up Little Brushy Road, Steve’s CJ3B stopped running. One of the wires had melted. After a couple of hours working on it, we decided it was time to tow it back to camp. Charlie towed the CJ3B about 24 miles up and down hills back to camp with his ZJ. We saw a lot of deer and a few elk on the way.

We winched the CJ3B onto my trailer to get it back home. Heading home we had to stop in Kittitas and fuel up 4 rigs. It was a late night the time we got home in Selah.

On Thursday, June 19th 2021, Eastern Washington Expeditions headed up to the Naneum Ridge State Forest to set up for the weekend. Friday two more members showed up.

Saturday we had a good breakfast for the EWE Chuckwagon. At 10 A< we headed out to do the Naneum State Forest backroads trip. We took Dawson Canyon up, headed west on Boulder Road, over the Naneum Creek, around the High Creek Loop, back over the Naneum Creek, up Naneum Creek to Naneum Basin for a break. Shelby our Black Lab enjoyed playing in the creek.

Next we down Naneum Creek, turned up Swift Creek Road, turn up toward Wenatchee Mountain, and ran Naneum Ridge northwest until the snow drifts stopped us. We may have been able to go father over the snow, but we did not want to press our luck. We turn around and stopped at a view point for a break.

After the break we back tracked to Swift Creek Road, headed east on Swift Creek Road, turned down Coleman Creek Road and stopped from lunch at the creek.

Next we headed on down Coleman Road, turned up East Fork Road and run it to End Of Green Dot. We turned around and headed down, turned on Rue Road, turned on Tyee Road, down Cooke Canyon Road, up Coleman Road, and up Dawson Canyon to camp.

Back at camp we had a great meal from the EWE Chuckwagon.

Around 10 AM Sunday, June 13th 2021, Eastern Washington Expeditions members met up at the Tampico Store for the Ahtanum State Forest 4×4 Trip. It looked like rain so we put the bikini top on the YJ. We convoyed to Red Saddle Trailhead and aired down.

We next headed up to Red Saddle and turned up the Sedge Ridge 4×4 Trail. We ran the trail to just past the Cultus Hole turn off. We were stopped by big snow drifts across the trail. We knew if we made it over them that we still would not make it up the last hill climb with snow on it. We turned around and headed back down. We ran South Fork Road down and then turn back up near the bottom end of South Fork Road. We worked our way up to the top of Sedge Ridge and ran the ridge east to the end over Tampico. We had lunch and took some photos of the Yakima Valleys below. then ran the ridge west and then down 2420 back onto Red Saddle Road and out to the pavement.

We turned up North Fork Road and then climb the Jackass Cutoff AKA North Fork Short Cut, than ran Jackass Road up to the top of Foundation Ridge, then turn to run Doe Pocket down to the Nasty Creek Corrals. We stopped for a break on the way down the last section and noticed Charlie’s tire had a nail in it. We plugged the tire and move on down the ridge. Then it started raining. We did not get too wet since we put the bikini top on earlier. We aired up at nasty Creek Corrals and headed for home.
