On Tuesday, August 4th 2020, the Eastern Washington Expeditions Club set up camp off FS1601 at the Nile Sawmill AKA Sawmill Flats to have some camping fun.

We ate well since we brought our Chuckwagon kitchen and the main cook. Better then our normal, cooking cans of chili on the Coleman stove.

On Wednesday Charlie came up and we went wheeling. We ran FS1601 up to the top of the ridge and turned onto 4W696. We aired down at the first cross road. We ran 4W696 all the way up to Clover Springs with one stop along the way above Mud Springs. Once on FS1600 we headed down and stopped at Little Bald Mountain for a late lunch. After lunch we head back down to camp.

We stayed at camp until Friday enjoying the great outdoors.

On Saturday, August 1st 2020, Liberty State Overland Club members met up at Oak Creek Ace Hardware in Naches. Charlie’s ZJ had a leak on the upper radiator hose. They cut off the bad part of the hose. Steve went in Ace and bought some better hose clamps and put them on.

Around 10:50 AM we convoyed to the Nile and turn up FS1500. We ran it up close to the end of the pavement before stopping for a break.

After a short break, we headed on up FS1500 to the end of the pavement. We turned on FS1502 and drove to McDaniel Lake. At McDaniel Lake we let the kids and dog run. There were a lot of snakes in the grass near the water.

Next we back tracked FS1502 and turn up the gravel on FS1500. We turn off a few miles up onto FS1506 and drove it up. We ate lunch above a herd of sheep.

After lunch we drove back down and continued up FS15oo. We turned up FS1500-190 and drove up to the top of Timberwolf Mountain.

Up on Timberwolf Mountain we took in the sights. For a cloudy day, we still could see pretty far. Mount Rainier and Mount Adams stood out well.

After awhile we headed back down to FS1500 and drove it down to US12. We aired up and headed home. Doc got a few good shots of the bears at Trout Lodge as we drove through Rimrock Retreat.

This was a fun day in the mountains.

Dinner Jeep Ride to Gold Creek Station

On Friday, July 31th 2020, it was very hot. The wife and I took a Jeep ride up Chinook Pass to have dinner at Gold Creek Station. It is one of our favorite place to eat but don’t get up there much due to our busy lives.

Once at Gold Creek Station, we found things were different than normal. Due to the Governors orders we could not eat inside the restaurant. We were able to get food to-go and eat outside. The food was great as usual.

On the way back down, we took our time enjoying the mountains. We drove up to Saw Mill Flats for the fun of it. Due it getting dark, I only got one photo that turn out once we left Gold Creek Station.

Chinook Pass Road Trip

On Saturday, July 25th 2020, Eastern Washington Tourism staff members took a road trip up Chinook Pass. We stopped at the top of the pass within the Mount Rainier National Park to see Mount Rainier. The weather was prefect.

On the way back down, we headed up Little Naches to see some friends camped up there.
