People Wagon and Tractor Swap

Report & photos by Clay Graham / CegPics.com

July 11th 2024, Kent brought over the Central Washington Antique Farm Equipment Club Small People Wagon so we can do some maintenance, repair the front axle, and paint the side boards with the club logo and name so it can be seen better in parades.

While Kent was here with his trailer, he picked up the two tractor of his that I picked up from the museum.

Eastern Washington Off Road
Blue Mountains Overland Trip
Hosted by Graham Family Farm

By Clay Graham / CegPics.com

Around 10 AM Monday July 8th 2024, we started off for the Blue Mountains Overland Trip from Graham Family Farm in Selah, Washington with three rigs. Kelly and his son, Foxracer and Sev, and I (Ceg) rode in Sky Driver’s LJ. We convoyed toward Dayton. Don L in his XJ jumped in our convoy at Parker with Craig riding along. We had to stop for road work before Prescott which put us behind schedule.

In Dayton, we stopped for fuel and then met with others in three rigs at Caboose Park. Waiting was Ted, Pepper, NachesHawk with John riding along. After a short meet and greet, we headed up North Touchet Road into the Blue Mountains in the Umatilla National Forest and then onto Kendall Skyline Road. We stopped for a short break at the Kendall Skyline Road Monument then moved on to Table Rock Lookout.

At Table Rock Lookout we got a tour of the lookout by the guy manning it. That was nice of him to do that for us.

After awhile we moved on. We stopped and set up camp at Mottet Campground in Oregon. It had pay sites and we took a few of them.

Tuesday morning we had breakfast and then packed up camp. We pulled out around 10 AM and headed toward Timothy Springs. We did a drive through at Timothy Springs Campground to see what it had to offer. The other campground we stayed at was nicer.

The next stop was near the Lookout Mountain Lookout for for the view looking down at the Grande Ronde.

The next stop was at Troy, Oregon. We had lunch. Some went for a swim in the Grande Ronde River.

After the swim we had lunch and headed up the mountain toward Pomeroy, Washington. We tried a different route than last time for a different view. Some how Don L turned onto a wrong road on the climb up to the flats. We could not reach him on the radio. Then we seen him coming at us from the other way. He had guessed he lost us so he backtrack a road we used last time and found up waiting.

We drove back into Washington into the Umatilla National Forest. We stopped at view point to look back toward Troy.

Next we drove over to Misery Campground and set up camp. We had dinner and sat around the propane campfire visiting. It was at warm night.

Wednesday we ate breakfast, packed up and head out toward Pomeroy, Washington. Don L’s rig headed off to camp another night some place. We stop at Clearwater Lookout for a break.

We moved on down toward Pomeroy. At the pavement we aired up at Boundary Campground. The three rigs we met up with in Dayton left from there. The last three rigs headed to Pomeroy and stopped for fuel. We parted ways from there.

Sky Driver and I could not find a restaurant open in Pomeroy, so we headed to Dayton and ate at Chief Spring’s Brew Pub. Very good food!

Sky Driver dropped me off at Graham Family Farm and then headed back to his house in Maple Valley.

This was a great trip thanks to all who came. Hopefully we will be back to the Blue Mountains again next year.
