March 30 2019 Road Trip, Selah to Cle Elum
Photos by Clay Graham / Selah Sweets / Eastern Washington Tourism
On Saturday March 30th, 2019 we took a drive to see some friends that live in Roslyn. We only got photos up to our time in Cle Elum due to darkness.
We left Selah by going through the Yakima River Canyon. We hit I-90 and took the first Cle Elum exit. As we came off the freeway, I saw a Big Foot and wanted to get a photo of it. I also saw Taneum Creek Brewing when we got to the stop sign. We drove east and turned around for a Big Foot photo. There was no place to stop to get the photo, so it did not turn out as well as planned.
We pulled in at Taneum Creek Brewing to check it out since we had never been there before. It was a nice little place with a beer garden out back. We had their Pale Ale and called our friends in Roslyn to join us. Our friends from Roslyn, “Ron the Web Guy” showed up and we tried a few more of the beers Taneum Creek Brewing makes. It was a great time and we hope to visit Taneum Creek Brewing again soon.
We were hungry, so we headed down the road to the Caboose Bar & Grill in Cle Elum. The food was great.
After dinner we stopped in Roslyn to visit awhile before heading back home in Selah.

The Leprechaun that found Gold Creek

On Saturday March 16th, 2019 the Selah Sweets Leprechaun took a trip up Chinook Pass looking for his pot of Gold. He came across this place called “Gold Creek“. That sounded like a great place to look and have breakfast too.
The Leprechaun had himself a great meal and then said, “It’s just better here”. He knew he had to move on looking for his pot of gold again.

Leavenworth Day Trip

On March 9th 2019, we took a road trip in the Jeep Wrangler to Leavenworth to visit for a day.
We left Selah around 11 AM. It was very cold and gray. The trees around Ellensburg were white with frost. As we dropped off the north slope of Blewett Pass, the clouds opened up and we had beautiful blue sky.
Once in Leavenworth, we had a hard time finding a parking space. The town was full of people having fun. We parked down the road a few blocks away from downtown.
Our first place to visit, as always, was the Munchen Haus for bratwurst and a beer. We really enjoy the Munchen Haus food, beer, and beer garden atmosphere.
After lunch we took a look in some of the shops. We took a break to have a beer and warm up at Uncle Uli’s.
We took another walk checking out shops. Some of them are gone or moved from our last trip to Leavenworth. We stopped at The Loft for some food, drinks and to warm up.
We then looked in a few more shops but had to find heat again since the temperature was dropping. We stopped from drinks at Leavenworth Sausage Garten, by Cured. We warmed up under the heaters. There was a guy playing all kinds of songs.
Next we went over the the Icicle Brewing Company. Inside was warm and had a guy playing country music. We stay for awhile there before walking back to the Jeep.
My wife Lisa drove us home since she was the designated driver. We took I-82 toward Selah due to there is a lot of animals out at night in the Yakima River Canyon. We topped the first climb out of Ellensburg when the Jeep engine started making noise. We pulled over at the 11 mile marker/Military Road Exit. We called AAA and they took us the rest of the way home. We got to bed at 2 AM/3 AM Daylight Savings time.
It was a fun day over all.
