On Wednesday February 18, 2021 the weather was nice enough to get out and do something. So we headed out in two rigs with staff and guest to see the Yakima River Canyon.

We drove though the canyon from Selah heading toward Ellensburg. Our first stop was at Umtanum Recreation Area to see the cable bridge.

We headed back south. We stopped along the way at the following locations in order; The Historical Highway marker, Mile Post 10, Mile Post 8, and Rosa Recreation Area Waterfront.

This was a fun outing.

On Monday January 18th, 2021, The Eastern Washington Expeditions staff took a drive since it was a nice day. We went through the Wenas Valley, down to Naches, and over to Oak Creek Wildlife Area Elk Feeding Station. I took a few pictures on the way and then more at the feeding station.

New Year’s Day Wenas Wildlife Area 4×4 Trip

On Friday January 1st, 2021, The Eastern Washington Expeditions group met up at Graham Family Farm in Selah. Around 10:30 AM we convoyed to close to the end of the pavement of Wenas Road and turned off to run the Ridge Road.

We aired down and headed up the trail. On McCabe Road we saw many Bald Eagles in the trees and flying around.

The trail got slick as soon as we turned up Ridge Road. We took a break once on top. The view was the same as the bottom of the hill. Just foggy.

We then ran Umtanum Ridge up past the top of Black Canyon to the next steep hill climb. At this point only four out of the seven rigs made it to the top due to the trail was icy.

We decided to go back down to the pavement. Once we got back down, we had a meeting to see what everyone wanted to do. Two rigs headed for home and the rest headed across Wenas Pass. Once on the Ellensburg side we aired up. We ran the Yakima River Canyon back to Selah.

This was a fun trip thanks to all who came.

Sledding Trip at Rimrock

On Saturday December 12th, 2020, The Eastern Washington Expeditions group met up at Oak Creek Ace Hardware in Naches. On the way we stopped to get a photo of the clouds over the Wenas Wild Life Area near our house.

Around 10:10 AM we convoyed from the hardware store to Rimrock. We ran up FS1201 to close to the end. We turned up FS1201-653 and ran it close to Long Lake. Two of the rigs decided to stay back at the intersection since the snow covered trail was iced up on a hill climb. The three rigs close to the lake parked and walk down the hill to the lake. We took a few photos and when back to the intersection where there was a nice hill to sled down.

As the kids played in the snow, we kept warm around the propane fire and had hot chocolate from the EWE Chuckwagon. We hung out for awhile until the little ones got cold.

As we were leaving, Charlie got he ZJ stuck turning around. He got a pull from TJ40 and we were on our way. We did stop to get a photo of Mount Rainier, and Kloochman Rock where the Grinch lives.
