Pioneer Power Show & Swap Meet

The Pioneer Power Show started in 1981. Tractors, Wheat Threshing/Binding, Bread Making, Swap Meet, Horse Demos, Equipment Parade & More in Union Gap every 3rd weekend in August. Hosted by The Central Washington Antique Farm Equipment Club, and the Central Washington Agricultural Museum.

On Friday, August 16th, 2019 we set up the Selah Sweets Food Truck up in Union Gap, Washington out front of the Central Washington Agricultural Museum by the foot bridge for the annual Pioneer Power Show & Swap Meet.

Saturday at 8 AM the Pioneer Power Show & Swap Meet started. There were many fun things to do and to watch; Tractor pulls, horse powered farm equipment demos, a working sawmill, a working blacksmith shop, music, rides, equipment parades, and so much more. It was a very fun event for the whole family.

On Thursday, August 15th 2019 we set up the Selah Sweets Food Truck up on Historical North Front Street in Downtown Yakima for the ninth of ten Downtown Summer Nights events in 2019. We served Bratwurst from Jahr’s European Sausage, Cotton Candy, and Shaved ice.

This was nice warm night. Live music from Jayleigh Ann & The Lost Boys and and then Matt Brown on the Prestige Motors Stage!

In the beer garden featured these local beverages: Cowiche Creek Brewing Company, Bale Breaker Brewing Company, Gilbert Cellars, Tieton Cider Works, and Swede Hill Distilling.

Each week features two bands and a bustling beer garden pouring your Yakima Valley craft favorites and outfitted misting tents for those especially hot evenings. For the whole family, an activities area, food from Front Street restaurateurs and plenty of room to kick up your heels right in front of the main stage.

On Friday, August 9th 2019 the Selah Sweets Food Truck staff met up with Kim’s Got Smoke BBQ in Union Gap to convoy to Desert-Aire to vend at Hot Desert Nights. We used our F350 with camper for our booth supplies and pulled Kim’s Got Smoke BBQ generator trailer.

Once at the Desert-Aire Park, we set up two pop-ups tied to the F350 for the Selah Sweets Food Truck booth. This was a very nice park with some cool toys you don’t see these days. The kids enjoyed playing until dark.

Around midnight the wind picked up and broke one of the pop-ups loose. We got up and untied that pop-up from the other. With the high winds pushing the pop-up in the air like a parachute, we had to fight it to get it on the ground so it did not pull the other pop-up with it. Around 1:30 AM we had everything moved in the second pop-up and secure.

Saturday morning we had to re-setup the Selah Sweets Food Truck Booth. Other vendors came and setup too.

The Car show started at 11 am. There were many cool vehicles including some boats and bicycles.  Around 3:30 pm the rain came in hard. A lot of people took there cars home.

People started coming back after the rain for the party. The live band started a little after 7 pm. The band was great and everyone had fun. We hope to come back to this event next year.

Sunday morning, we packed up and convoyed back to the Yakima area.
