On Saturday July 19th 2014, Selah Cub Scout Pack 276 had another camp-out at Eastern Washington Adventures in Selah, Washington.

They started off with the Pledge of Allegiance and then an uniform inspection. The Scouts receive treats for how well they are in uniform.

Next the Cub Scouts did skits and a comedy show. Into the night the Cub Scouts had a campfire and had snacks before sleeping in their tents.

On Sunday morning there was a pancake breakfast.

It was a very fun Cub Scout Camp Out.

Saturday July 19th, 2014 was the 2nd Annual “Selah Beginner Triathlon” hosted this year by Selah Adventures.

The event started out at 8 AM at the Selah Pool in Wixson Park where beginner athletes had to swim 8 complete laps down and back equaling a 1/4 mile swim.

Next was a bike ride from the Wixson Park to River Ridge Golf Course and back. This was a 3 mile route which most did twice to get the complete 6 miles in.

The last part was a 3 mile walk/run from Wixson Park up to North 4th Street off of West Goodlander Road and then back to Wixson Park.

Most everyone seemed to have a good time giving it a try. One guy did the whole event in a bomb suit.

This event went great thanks to our sponsors and volunteers:
River Ridge supplied cold water for the athletes as they came by the golf course and King’s Row supplied cold water at Wixson Park. Selah Cub Scout Pack 276 and their families helped with the set up and check points.

River Ridge Golf Course and Restaurant in Selah, Washington has events called “Movies on the Green” through out the summer.

Around 9 PM on Friday July 18th, 2014 they started off with some cartoons and then played the movie “The Sandlot”.

The movie played right outside of the River Ridge Restaurant and Bar. They had concessions outside and the bar remained open for 21 and older. This was a great way to spend the evening.

On a side note; they also had night golf. It was cool seeing glowing balls flying across the golf course.

Movies on the Green are free to attend events. They have (cash only) concessions outside. The bar is open for those 21 and over. You will need blankets or chairs to set on.

Photos: The Future Volunteer Park Visited By Volunteers

On Wednesday July 16th, 2014 Selah Adventures, Selah Cub Scout Pack 276, Other Scouts, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and some other community members met at Volunteer Park to talk about what ideas and plans have been made for the park.

Selah City Administrator David Kelly and City of Selah Parks and Recreation Manager Charles Brown gave us the over all plan. The highlights of the plan is to have a 9 foot wide walking path, some benches, restrooms and more. This park is going to be a place where disabled and other children are going to be able to play. There will be an informational meeting to be announced.

On Wednesday July 9th, 2014 Selah’s Wednesday Market had their fouth day of the season market. Selah’s Wednesday Market is held at King’s Row at 210 S. 1st Street in Selah, Washington.

Selah’s Wednesday Market’s mission is bringing the Selah and Yakima Valley communities together through the “fruits and labor” of our local farmers, artisans and organizations.

This is a weekly family fun event that is held at all summer. This year it runs from June 18th through September 24th.
