At 6 PM Thursday July 3rd, 2014 the Selah Independence Day Festival kicked of at the Selah High School grass area next to Carlon Park. There was a lot of activities for the community to enjoy. Most of the vendors were non-profit groups and the rest donate to a local charity that benefits the Selah Community.
6:30 PM there was the “Color me free” 5K Fun Run hosted by the City of Selah Parks & Recreation.
Cody Beebe & The Crooks played live through the night bringing the Selah Community a great show. Pingrey Ford sponsored the music.
As it started to get dark, Selah Cub Scout Pack 276 presented the colors, Andrew Potter sung the National Anthem and then there was a firework show sponsored by Les Schwab.
6 AM Friday July 4th, 2014 Selah Cub Scout Pack 276 put on a breakfast at Nana Kate’s.
After breakfast it was time for a parade. The Selah Independence Day Parade started at 10 AM from the Selah Jr. High School parking lot, went south on 1st Street, turned on Selah Avenue and ended at Wixson Park. Since this was the first year there were not take many parade entries but there were a lot of people that showed up to watch.
Thank you to everyone that helped make this a very fun Independence Day for our community. We hope to see you next year on Saturday July 4th, 2015. The plan is to do all the events on the July 4th. Breakfast at the Selah Civic Center, Parade down 1st Street, Activities and entertainment at Wixson Park, and fireworks at Lince.
