On Sunday February 17th, 2013 Rangerat, Charlie and I went to the Sundome in Yakima for the 2013 Central Washington Sportsmen Show. There were a lot of booths with a wide variety of items and info for different outdoor adventures.

On Saturday February 2nd, 2013 members of Eastern Washington Adventures, Pacific Northwest Backroad Adventures, Peak Putters and guest met up at the Slab ORV Area near Zillah Washington for the annual Eastern Washington Adventures Slab ORV Meet & Greet. The weather was nice and we had a great turnout. This event was a lot of fun thanks to all who came.

Wenas Wildlife Area 4×4 Snow Wheeling Run

On Saturday January 26th, 2013 Eastern Washington Adventures members met up at Graham Family Farm in Selah Washington for the Wenas Wildlife Area 4×4 Snow Wheeling Run. We had five Jeeps on this run, TJ40 – TJ, Guido – TJ, Foxracer – TJ, Rangerat – YJ and Ceg – JK. TylerB rode with me. We convoyed to Sheep Company Road and aired down.

Once aired down, we headed on up Durr Road and then turned up Bel Tel Road. Near the top of Umtanum Ridge we climbed out of the fog. The weather was very nice on top of Umtanum Ridge. We took a break as we turned Northwest on Umtanum Ridge Road.

We ran Umtanum Ridge Road getting stuck here and they due to dry powder snow drifts. We passed a few other ORVs a long the way. About a 1/4 mile from Black Canyon Road the dry powder snow drifts got to deep to push on. We back tracked Umtanum Ridge passing more ORVs. At Durr Road we headed back down toward Sheep Company Road. Not far off the top of Umtanum Ridge we dropped back down into the fog.

Down at the Sheep Company entrance of Wenas Wildlife Area we aired up for the pavement. Guido and Rangerat headed home and the rest of us went back to the Club House for dinner.

This was a very fun day!

The PNW4WDA has a monthly publication called, “Tri-Power” which has information about what the members/clubs are doing, public land access in the Northwest and more. This is a free publication for public land eduction.

New Year’s Colockum Snow Wheeling

On Tuesday January 1st, 2013 Eastern Washington Adventures members met up at Curley’s II in Kittitas Washington for the News Years Colockum 4×4 Snow Wheeling Run.

We convoyed to Colockum Road and aired down. Some head problem getting to the air down area.

We moved on up Colockum Road and climbed out of the fog. The weather was very nice on top of the ridge. We regrouped and moved on. The group got a little spread out with a lot getting stuck. The snow was powder and did not pack very good. I followed tracks that were already there. The ruts were deeper than my tires could reach so I just kept up my momentum until I hit some deep power. Kyle worked hard to pull me out and also got stuck in the powder snow. We stuck on the road as another group came up. We waved them around us but I guess the guy in the CJ7 with tall tires thought it would be funner to drive off the tracks and around us. It did not work well for him. That group turn around and headed back down as we moved on up the trail with Kyle and Craigen’s TJs in the lead.

At the power lines all the tracks turned off Colockum Road. We could not push on up the road because the powder snow would not pack. We turned around to go fine the rest of the group. We everyone was together again, we headed down to the bottom to add enough air to get back to Kittitas.

Once back in Kittitas we stopped in at Ron the Parts Guy to air up for highway driving.

After everyone was aired up, a few of us headed over to Curley’s II for dinner and a Get Together. Our sponsor JustDifferentials.com sent some stuff to give away to the people who came. What a nice bonus to a fun day. Thank you JustDifferentials.com.
