Western Washington Brew Tour – Day 1 of 3
Report by Clay Graham

The last few years for our wedding anniversary my wife and I take a break from the kids and getaway. This year I had to be at the Washington State Lands Meeting in Union Gap on that weekend so we decided to celebrate a week early. This worked out well since it was Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and the kids did not have school on Monday. The last two years we went to Leavenworth. This year for our 17 year Anniversary we wanted to do something different where we could do some fun stuff with our family on the west side of the state. With that said, here is our Urban Adventure;

On Friday January 14th, 2011 we left our home in Selah Washington around 10 AM and headed west with the family in our Suburban. We took White Pass over. It was warm out and raining. The snow was melting causing a lot of water to come off the mountains. As we were driving in the Rimrock area, big rocks were rolling out in front of us onto the highway. It looked like something off a cool action movie but one I did not want to be in.

A few hours later we make it to my Sister-in-law Chrissy’s home in Gig Harbor. My other sister-in-law Teresa was there with her new baby. As soon as my brother-in-law Trever got home we were out of there to let the women talk. We headed to 7 Seas Brewing to check it out. The brewery was just down from his house. We pulled in to find the place was packed. We decide to go somewhere else and come back to 7 Seas Brewing on Sunday. We stopped for a beer at the Sunset Grill. They had a nice lounge, friendly people and great service. After one beer it was time to head back to my Trever’s house to start the part of our wedding anniversary without the kids. I dropped Trever off and picked up my wife. We headed to my brother Ron’s house in Kent. Awhile later we got to Ron’s where he and his wife Christina were ready to take us out.

On the night of Friday January 14th 2011 we went to the Trade Route Brewing Company in Pacific Washington. It is located in a warehouse complex toward the rear.
Western Washington Brew Tour – Day 1 of 3 68

The Tap Room is the same room where the beer is made with a divider in between.
Western Washington Brew Tour – Day 1 of 3 69

Western Washington Brew Tour – Day 1 of 3 70

We found us a table off to the side so we could check things out. We ordered a pizza and the brew samplers.
Western Washington Brew Tour – Day 1 of 3 71

I believe the food was brought in from someone else but it was there in no time and very good.
Western Washington Brew Tour – Day 1 of 3 72

The beer was flavorful in a good way. The service was a little slow when the place fill up.
They could have used a little more help for the crowd they had. Over all I liked the Trade Route Brewing Company and hope to go back some day.

Our next stop was at Gator’s in Kent. Gator’s is pretty much your topical sports bar. The sever was great and worth stopping if you are driving through Kent.

Ahtanum 4×4 Snow Run
Story by Clay Graham – Eastern Washington Off Road

On Sunday January 9th, 2011 Eastern Washington Adventures had a run up Doe Pocket at the Ahtanum State Forest. The drivers on this run from All Wheelers Off Road Club were Jeepscum in his TJ, Foxracer in his Rubicon, TJ40 in his TJ, Colemancooler in his Toyota, TheMiddleKidin his Flatty and BlindPilot in his TJ. Jeepscum was the Trail Boss. I rode with BlindPilot. We started the run around 10 AM from the Tampico Church. We ran the North Fork Ahtanum Road to the Nasty Creek Corrals and aired down. We ran the Doe Pocket Trail up the ridge. Some of the Insanityfab guys where running the same trail. We wheeled some with them. At the steep double climb TheMiddleKid has some trouble getting up the hill. Colemancooler and TheMiddleKid turned around for home. The four TJs kept going until the powder snow got real deep.

This was a great run with good people. Here are the pictures I took:

Thursday Night Get Together at Bob’s Burgers & Brew
Report by Clay Graham

On Thursday January 6th, 2011 I drove to just off I-82 in Yakima Washington near Target to meet the others for the Eastern Washington Off Road Thursday Night Get Together at Bob’s Burgers & Brew. Here are a few pictures of our time there.

At this GT there were only five of us. Havo, Havo Jr, Demontang w/GF and myself.
Photos: EWOR Thursday Night GT - Bob’s Burgers & Brew 147

Photos: EWOR Thursday Night GT - Bob’s Burgers & Brew 148

Bob’s Burgers & Brew has a nice lounge area with a lot of different drinks and beers to choose from. They are a little high priced. I had the Yakima Craft Brewing Co.‘s 1982. This is a very good mid-hopped amber ale.

Everyone I talk to thinks the food is great a Bob’s Burgers & Brew. I had taken my family there last summer for lunch and the burgers had a burnt flavor none of us cared for. On this night I gave the burgers one more try in case we had came on a bad day last time. I ordered the “Fresh Mushroom Burger”. You get a good size portion of food for the money but the hamburger had that burnt flavor again. I guess this taste good to other people but I went out to dinner so I wouldn’t have to taste the burn food at home. lol

We all had a great time at Bob’s Burgers & Brew but most likely will not do another GT

Eastern Washington Off Road
New Years Colockum Snow Run

Report by Clay Graham / CegPics.com

On Saturday January 1st, 2011 we had a Eastern Washington Off Road  run up Colockum Road. The drivers on this run were Foxracer in his Rubicon, Ron the Parts Guy in his XJ, Tiny in his XJ, Don in his XJ and Test Dummy in his XJ. Foxracer was the Trail Boss. I rode with Test Dummy. We started the run at noon from Olmstead State Park which was not to far away from Colockum Road. We Ran Colockum Road to about the 4900 foot elevation. The snow at that point was deep powder and would not pack. The four rigs that went into the last area got stuck. Don parked just before the deep powder area and came up to help with recovery. Once everyone got back to where Don was parked, we headed back down. Once at the bottom we aired up and were headed home just before 5 PM.

This was a great run with good people. The area looks to be in good shape for the most part. We did not see anyone doing any resource damage but saw some tracks that were close. We pick up some trash left by target shooters across from where we aired down.

Here are the pictures of the day:

I took this picture as we were driving in the Yakima River Canyon from Selah. The Yakima River was frozen in areas.
