Selah Cub Scout Pack 276
Wildfire Awareness

On Sunday April 17th, 2016 Selah Cub Scout Pack 276 met up at Selah Community & Tourism and convoyed to Whites Ridge Trailhead at the Ahtanum State Forest for Wildfire Awareness with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

When the convoy of Cub Scout families arrived at Whites Ridge Trailhead, the DNR was all set up for Wildfire Awareness training. Smokey Bear was there to help out.

The DNR staff talked about wildfires, the hard work to put them out, the equipment they use and how to help prevent wildfires. The volunteers were able to see and feel what the fire crew uses to put the wildfires out.

This was a very fun and educational event. Thank you to all the volunteers, DNR staff and Smokey Bear.

Selah United Methodist Church
Chili Cook-Off

On the Friday April 22nd, 2016 the Selah United Methodist Church, held their first annual Chili Cook-off. There were five different competitors that wanted to be the best.

The three people who judged was: Clay Graham, from Selah Community and Tourism. Juli Reinholz from the Seven River District Superintendent. The final judge was Sheri Bissell. She was with Northwest Harvest, Yakima Community Engagement Specialist. These judges picked their favorite chili by: Color, Aroma, Consistency, Taste, Aftertaste, and the Wow factor.

The winning chili was “The Helseth Experience” Mike Helseth who made this chili won the Golden Ladle for his awesome cooking skills. The fan favorite was the chili made by Ron Johnson. He got a silver ladle for wowing the crowd.

Thank you to everyone that was in the contest, the judges, and everyone who came to be apart of this awesome event.

Selah Sweets does custom candy orders!

These containers were bought in by a customer and Selah Sweets filed them.

Custom orders are not a problem since Selah Sweets makes candy right here in Downtown Selah. Selah Sweets makes fresh candy for every order and packages it the way the customer wants. Most of the time there is no additional cost.

Note: All custom orders must be place in person at the Selah Sweets store.
