On Saturday December 9th, 2006 the Eastern Washington Off Road group met up at The Slab ORV Area to play with their 4x4s.

This was a very cold but fun day.

Thanksgiving 4×4 Run
Hosted by Eastern Washington Off Road
Report by Clay Graham. Photos by Clay Graham / CegPics.com

On Saturday November 25th, 2006 we met up in Tampico with 18 rigs for the Eastern Washington Off Road Thanksgiving snow run. We headed up South Fork Ahtanum Road. We hit snow before the pavement ended.

As we climbed the snow got deeper. A few rigs did not make it pass the hill climb going away from the South Fork Ahtanum Creek and had to go back.

The snow was getting deep up toward the top of Sedge Ridge. My XJ could hardly break trail so Toyotawheelin took the lead. Toyotawheelin plowed the trail for us in his 4runner. I still had to give the Molly Mule a workout to follow him since I only have 33s and open diffs.

Some of the rigs couldn’t make it up so we headed back down. We found Test Dummy’s XJ down the trail stuck. A build Sami gave Test Dummy a pull but his XJ was sliding off the trail. Toyotawheelin winched Test Dummy’s XJ back on to the trail. We headed down and regrouped. We had lunch at the turn off to Red Saddle.

At Red Saddle we turn up the Sedge Ridge 4×4 Trail. A few of us made it up to the Rocky Climb. We headed back down the Sedge Ridge 4×4 Trail and regrouped again.

We ran the Sedge Ridge Crest Trail down to where it is blocked off over Tampico. After a little fun we headed down to the Ahtanum Sno-Park and out the North Fork Ahtanum Road home.

This was a real fun run.

Around 10 AM on Sunday November 5th, 2006, Eastern Washington Off Road members met up at the Ahtanum Sno-park for a quick 4×4 run. We aired down and headed up to Red Saddle and then up the Sedge Ridge 4×4 Trail.

Colemancooler’s Toyota slid off the trail on the Rocky Climb. PullUOut pulled Colemancooler’s Toyota on up the hill climb.

We ran the Sedge Ridge 4×4 Trail to the last climb before the Cultus Hole Rim. The climb was way to slick to make it up.

We headed back down to the Ahtanum Sno-park. It was Colemancooler’s birthday, so Fatboy brought up some cupcakes to celebrate.

Most aired up and headed for home to watch the game. Fatboy and I headed to the top of Darland Mountain. It was cold!

Photos: Blue Lake Trail Logging Mess

Ahtanum Sunday Drive / Blue Lake Trail Logging Mess
Hosted by Eastern Washington Off Road
By Clay Graham / CegPics.com

Update: I was told by the DRN that the logging in the area around Blue Lake is on private land owned by Ahtanum Irrigation District (AID). The trails will only be unavailable during logging.

On Sunday October 29th, 2006 we took a drive around the Ahtanum. We tried to run up to Blue Lake but the Green Dot trail was gone. Down trees everywhere. Nothing look the same. We drove around the other way by the ponds and were stopped by logs and logging equipment. The first hill climb going toward 4W615 and Blue Lake was block by a pile of longs.

We drove back to the North Fork Ahtanum Road and then up on top of Darland Mountain. It was cold!

We headed out by going down the Mid Fork Ahtanum Road with a few stops a long the way.

Halloween 4×4 Night Run

Report by Clay Graham. Photos by Clay Graham / CegPics.com

On October 28th, 2006 we met up at the Ahtanum Sno-park for the Eastern Washington Off Road Halloween Run. It was dark the time everyone got there so I did not get a picture of the whole group. I counted 11 rigs.

We went up the Mid Fork. We turn on the White Ridge Loop Trail and ran it around to the Whites Ridge 4×4 Trail. We had to by pass the lower part of the Whites Ridge Crest Trail because of the seasonal closure. Once on Whites Ridge 4×4 Trail the fun began. The trail got tighter the higher up we went. As we passed Make-out Hill the woods came alive with spooky creatures running around our rigs.

Not far passed the Grey Rock Trail we all turned around and headed back down the Whites Ridge Crest Trail. As we came though the woods we saw a Headless Horseman. 99 about jumped out of the driver’s seat and scared the **** out of me. A little farther down the trail we saw 3 lynch men running by us on horses.

This was a fun run. It looks to be the 1st annual Halloween Run.

A special thank you to all the people that came up on horses (in the cold) to make the trail scary for the kids.

Here are the only photos of the Halloween 4×4 Night Run that came out:
