On May 19th, 2007 we met up at the Ahtanum Sno-park. Test Dummy wanted to go up and try out his new 33×12.5 TrXus and his Lock Right. We headed up Whites Ridge and hit the Whites Ridge 4×4 trail.

We had to pull a tree out of the trail. Scuba wanted to stop for lunch. He broke out the gas BBQ.

After lunch we headed up the trail. This is where it got fun. We hit some deep snow patches. The Tweety Jeep did well. We heard on the CB Scuba had to winch out and Tiny had to be pulled out.

We could not go on up the trail because of a big tree that fell across the trail. We went on up to Make-out Point for the view. It was to cloudy to see very far.

We took a group photo and headed back down the Whites Ridge 4×4 Trail back though the deep snow patches. We regrouped at the Whites Ridge Loop Trail and headed on over to Sedge Ridge at ran that 4×4 trail.

On high on the Sedge Ridge 4×4 trail we started getting into the snow after the Dual Climb. Near the Cultus Hole Trail we lost where the 4×4 trail went. We found it a few times again but the snow got to deep to tell anymore. The tree hole were to deep to continue and had we had no luck finding the trail so we turned around.

After dropping down the hill climb right below the snow level, Scuba’s front tire came off the wheel. Fatboy loaned Scuba a spare tire and we head out by the way of South Fork and then over Red Saddle to the Sno-park. A long the way we stopped to put someone’s camp fire out they had left. We were sad to see people were being careless.

This was a great fun run. I can’t wait to get back up there this weekend.

Juniper Dunes Mother’s Day ORV Camp Out

Run call by Lisa Graham AKA “99”.

On Friday May 11th, 2007, Fatboy’s family and mine convoyed to Juniper Dunes near Pasco, Washington to camp for the weekend. We set up camp near the power lines off Smith Canyon Road. We drove the kids out to the tall dunes and let them do some sand sledding.

Saturday morning most of the others showed up at camp around 10 AM. More All Wheelers Off Road Club members, some Peak Putters Club members and some others from the Eastern Washington Off Road forum.

Commando14 was the Trail Boss on this run and lead us out to the big dunes below the Upper Parking Area. After awhile hill climbing that area we head on up the trail. We stopped for a break along the Juniper Dunes Wilderness boundary.

Moving on down the fence line we came up on a gas line. We stopped and waited for the others. Someone was having some problems on the trail behind us. It didn’t take to long and they were back on the trail. Toward the end of the ORV area we had lunch and some fun climbing dunes.

At this point the group split up. Most headed back out. Fatboy, Test Dummy and I wheeled to the end on the ORV area and followed the west fence line back to the big power lines. We ran the power lines close to the east fence and turned off toward camp.

Once back at camp we took a break before heading back out. Toyman2 came out to camp with us. He set up camp and so did Bobstar and Luna as Fatboy and I went back out to wheel. Colemancooler rode shot gun with me.

We were having a blast and climbing hills. Over on the back side of the main big dune area, I went for this one hill climb a few times without much of a run and did not make it all the way up. On what became my lat try, I almost topped the hill when I lost a freeze plug on the Tweety Jeep. Colemancooler some how found it. We could see that someone did not have it in straight. Fatboy was nice enough to tow the Tweety Jeep back to camp with his TJ. It did a great job pulling us up the sand dunes.

As I was being towed down Peterson road back to camp, Printthis came around us. He said he had been at our camp but had to get going back home so we didn’t get to visit.

Back at camp we found Hercules came to camp with us. Colemancooler headed home. The rest of us sat around the camp fire as much as we could, between the rain showers. We had a great time visiting.

Sunday most of us packed up and headed home. Bobstar and Luna stayed awhile to play.

I want to thank everyone that came out. We had a great time. I think we will be back again next Mother’s Day.

2007 Beverly Dunes Clean Up
Hosted by Ace of Clubs & Eastern Washington Off Road with cooperation from the Department of Natural Resources.
Report by Clay Graham. Photos by Clay Graham & Lisa Graham / CegPics.com

On May 5th, 2007 some of us from Eastern Washington Off Road and All Wheelers Off Road Club met up with Lowgeared from Ace of Clubs with a few others to clean up Beverly Dunes. Vanessa Seldal (DNR Recreation Manager) and the DNR police officer were there to help clean up too.

The biggest thing we found was a carpet buried in the sand. After the dunes were cleaned up, Fatboy and I helped Vanessa clean up around the trash cans.

After we were finished with the clean up we went out and had some fun.

I would like to thank everyone that showed up for the clean-up. The dunes are a little cleaner and it was a real fun day.

Ahtanum Snow 4×4 Run

On Friday April 20th, 2007 BSLM and I went up to the Ahtanum Sno-park with our families and set up camp for the Eastern Washington Off Road Ahtanum Snow Run. We were running a little late and Toyman2 show up not to long after we got there. Tiny and Roll-Over camp up for awhile. They went and got some fire wood before they left.

Saturday most of the other wheelers showed up around 10 am. We headed up A2400, A2420 and then ran the Sedge Ridge 4×4 Trail west. Monster Mazda cut a tree out of the trail.

We went on past Red Saddle to the Rocky Climb. This was fun getting up with the open dif rig I was driving. Vetsch was having some trouble getting up were I had climbed. I guess he forgot to air down. ToyRollin37s followed Tyrunner around the other way though the deeper snow.

On up the trail I had to fall back and let others with lockers lead. Tyrunner dug some big holes we fell into and I ended up having to winch to the top because I couldn’t get started again. I made it so slick Vetsch had to winch up the top part.

Up past the Dual Climb, I got stuck on a downed tree under that snow. Scuba gave me a pull back and we moved on.

After that last little climb and the tires digging in, I powered up out of between two trees and slid into one. Commando14 needed a picture of some carnage anyways.

Test Dummy was calling me on the CB from Red Saddle so I turned around to meet up with him. There wasn’t much left to run of the trail anyway with the logging closer. BSLM took over as Trail Boss and two rigs (Fatboy & Scuba) followed me down to Red Saddle. Test Dummy found he had a bad u-joint so we went on down to the Sno-park to swap it out. He came into some problems and couldn’t change it so he headed to a friend’s in Tampico. Scuba Steve’s transfercase was making a lot of noise and was going out. He loaded his XJ on the trailer and headed home.

Fatboy and I didn’t want to sit around so we headed on up to meet back up with the group. We met with a few of the guys and said the other were on there way down too. We waited at camp for everyone so we could regroup and run Whites Ridge. It was kind of late when the others got back to camp so we put Whites Ridge off until Sunday. Most of the guys went home so it was just the 3 families camping. It rained but it was fun BSing around the fire with tunes from Toyman2’s rig and BSLM Ipod.

Sunday April 22nd, 2007 Toyman2 headed home. BSLM and I took our families up the Whites Ridge 4×4 Trail. At the first steep climb from McLain Canyon Road, BSLM had to take a few runs at it because of the snow.

BSLM made a nice road for me to drive up on. It was my turn to plow the way so I took the lead. The trail started going down hill and the snow was a little soft. We turned around and went down to Tree Phones Campground.

At Tree Phones Campground, I drove around the north camp loop and stopped at the middle camp site. BSLM followed and said it was easy. We stopped to use the outhouse and then followed BSLM around the south camp loop. I got to use the new winch to pull BSLM back out of the holes he was stuck in. He powered though the holes and was on his way. BSLM took the lead and then stuck his rig again at Tree Phones. BSLM said he wouldn’t have been stuck if he was in his XJ.

This was a very fun weekend snow run / camp out. Thanks to all that came out.
