ARMY BASE RACE

The Army Base Race is our annual 1/2 Marathon and 5k. This event happens on the 3rd Saturday in September.

With over 500 runners you are sure to compete with somebody and test your endurance. The race distances are ½ Marathon (13.1 miles) and 5K (3.1 miles). We will also have a free kid’s run at 10:00am around Carlon Park. Winners will receive trophies as well as their participation medals.

All participants will receive dog tags upon completion of the race as well as shirt and race bag! Register by September 1st to guarantee your shirt size. No shirts will be guaranteed after September 1st.

We will be using a chip timing system again this year to ensure accurate results as you cross the finish line. Last year the winning time was 1 hour 17 minutes… Do you have it in you to beat that time? The Japanese Army does and they will again be participating in this event, come help us bring the gold back to Selah!

On Saturday morning, September 12th 2015, many local agencies and businesses came together to put on a Safety School for the the whole family at the lower fields of Selah High School. There was food, Games, Safety Demonstrations and more.

The big demonstration was a car accident they staged from two vehicle the they crashed on purpose at 25 MPH at different location days before by a person wearing safety gear to make the rescue real as possible. They had real people wearing makeup in those vehicles as the cash victims. They showed the steps of what would happen during a real accident with injured people. From the police first on the seen to a medevac helicopter.

4th Annual Go Play Topless Weekend

On the weekend of September 4th-6th, 2015 Eastern Washington Adventures held the 4th Annual Go Play Topless Weekend at their location in Selah, Washington. This year the event was sponsored by Selah Sweets.

Friday people came and set up camp at Eastern Washington Adventures. They gathered in the Club House to visit.

Saturday morning around 10 AM the group headed out for the run with eight Jeeps. We convoyed through the Yakima River Canyon stopping once a long the way. At the Ellensburg side we stopped at Helen McCabe State Park for a break.

After the break we headed into Ellensburg to take Umtanum Road to the Wenas Wildlife area. At Durr Road we aired down. One more jeep joined us there. Then continued up Wenas Pass. We ran North Wenas Road just a little ways and turned up Ridge Road. We ran Ridge Road on up close to the top of Umtanum Ridge and took a break to look back across at the Manastash Ridge Observatory. From there we ran the top of the ridge across to the towers where we took a break. After the break we headed down Durr road to the bottom and out Sheep Company Road and back to the EWA Club House.

Back at the EWA Club House we had a potluck dinner and enjoyed sitting around the campfire.

Sunday morning everyone packed up and headed for home.
