At 10AM on Friday October 10th 2014 the Selah Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Matson Fruit with Mayor John Gawlik.
They started off with cutting the ribbon, then went inside for a tour around the inside. We got to see how they stacked the boxed fruit and how they moved it around the factory. It was a nice little tour ending with snacks provided by Nana Kate’s. Open House & Tours available. Tour times: Started at 10:30AM & every 2 hours until 4:30pm with the last tour at 5:30pm.

This is an annual Fundraiser for the Selah Chamber of Commerce, a portion of the proceeds are donated to charity. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, seniors and military personnel are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Table rates are available but must be purchased in advance, $200 – tables comes with drink tickets and bottle of wine.

The Historic Naches Pass Wagon Trail is one of the most poplar trails in the Northwest. We like to run this trail in the fall after the dust is gone and we do it in the opposite direction of the settlers for more of a challenge climbing the west end.
On Friday October 3rd, 2014 Eastern Washington Adventures members met up at Lost Meadow to camp for the annual “Wagons East! Naches Pass Trail 4×4 Run”.
Saturday October 4th around 10 AM we headed from our camp at Lost Meadow off of NF19 to cross over to Pyramid Pass with 8 rigs. On the West side we met up with Ron and Foxracer at the end of the Naches Pass 4×4 Trail on FS70.
We took a hike down to see the cliff where the Longmire Party lowered their wagons down in October 1853. There we saw a sign telling about how far the Longmire party had come and how much farther they were going. If you looked close enough you could see the marks in the trees that were made by the people lowering the wagons. We then hiked back up to start the 4×4 part of the run.
As we worked our way east to the beginning of the trail we stopped to see the sights. We stopped at Government Meadows on Naches Pass 4×4 Trail. There we had a lunch break, and took the short walk to see the Government Meadows Cabin and the meadow. As Everyone was getting ready the children had fun feeding the birds as they flew above. We packed up and headed out again. As we got to one of the many bridges we cross, we had to do a miniature work party on it because there were broken boards and it was not passable at the time. As the day winded down so do the trip.
At FS1913 we turned off the Naches Pass Trail to skip the newer tight part near the east end. We went back to camp and Ron and Foxracer headed back home to the west side. At camp we had a warm fire and a potluck. Everyone pitched in to make the day the best it could be.
On Sunday we took a drive up to Raven Roost. The view up there were great. Mount Rainier looked very close.
We headed back to camp with a stop at the Little Naches Fish Ladder. After we got back, we pack up for home.
This was a fun and exciting event. Thanks to all who came.
