On Saturday I got to Selah around 7:30 AM to find lawn chair lined up down the street with only a few people around.

I parked at TQ Hobbies to wait for the Selah Community Days Parade to start.

By 9:30 the sidewalks were full as people waited for the parade to start.

Beverly Dunes Clean Up and Camp Out
Hosted by Eastern Washington Off Road with cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources.
By Clay Graham / CegPics.com

On Friday May 4th, 2012 a lot of Eastern Washington Adventures members meet up at Beverly Dunes to camp for the weekend. The members did a few runs during the day and a night run. The wind made it a little cold.

On Saturday May 5th, 2012 volunteers met up at the Beverly Dunes parking area around 10 AM for the Beverly Dunes Clean up.  Once everyone sign in they headed out to pick up trash across the ORV area.

The clean up only took a few hours and then everyone got to play. Some that came just for the day went out on the first group run of the day. There were a few more runs before dinner. For dinner Icesis & Barbie cooked us a great Mexican dinner in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.

On Sunday May 6th, 2012 we woke up to a great day. It was warm and the wind was not blowing. We did a few runs before most people headed for home. A few stayed another night since the weather was so nice.

Thank you to everyone that came out to help with the clean up. Thank you Icesis and Barbie for the Cinco de Mayo dinner and Jeepscum for sharing his Sunday breakfast with us.

Wildfire Awareness Week:
Ahtanum Campground Campfire Pit Clean-out
Report and photos by Clay Graham / CegPics.com

On Sunday April 29th, 2012 the Department of Natural Resources staff and volunteers met up at the Ahtanum State Forest for a campfire pit clean out event in the Ahtanum Campground in celebration of Wildfire Awareness Week. The group worked together to clean out campfire pits to reduce the risk of wildfire due to escaped recreational fires. Smokey Bear was on site to support the groups efforts. The kids got to check out a DNR firetruck and everyone received some cool Smokey Bear promotional items.

2012 Eastern Washington Off Road Meet & Greet

Report and photos by Clay Graham / CegPics.com

On Saturday April 28th, 2012 we had the 2012 Eastern Washington Off Road Meet & Greet at Graham Family Farm in Selah, Washington. This event was hosted by Ron the Parts Guy and Graham Family Farm/Eastern Washington Off Road. Others who donated items for the Forest Watch Volunteer Program Raffle were Red Goat Fab, ASR Off Road, Pegasus Northwest Inc., Yakima Arms, The Rec Room, Highland Quick Stop and Complete Cabin Care. Many brought items for the potluck and Mike Williams was kind enough to run the barbecue. $172 was raised for the Forest Watch Volunteer Program. Thank you to everyone that helped make this event a success.

I was very busy having fun meeting and greeting people so I did not get as many photos as I would have liked. Here are the photos I did take:

The weather was great. Looking at the empty playground that would be soon full of children playing.

Report and photos by Clay Graham / CegPics.com.

Every year the third Saturday in April, the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association has a clean-up at Jim Sprick Park where the Trail Jamboree takes place later in July. They have a Hobo Stew for lunch and a potluck dinner in the evening. Many camp the weekend for this event.

We came up for the day to help out. Here are a few photos of the day (April 21, 2012):
