On Saturday, June 5th, 2021, Eastern Washington Expeditions members packed up camp and headed up the Columbia River sightseeing. Click for that Report!

Our next part of the trip was to loop from the Columbia River through Douglas Creek and back to the Columbia River by going down Rock Island Grade.

We took Palisades Road northeast, turned on left on Wagon Road (Moses Coulee Road SW on Google), and then a quick left onto Slack Canyon Rd SW. There was a Douglas Creek water crossing not far from the intersection. We aired down there.

We started off with a climb out of the valley. Not to far there was a view point of Douglas Creek Falls. At this point the road spit without any signs pointing the way. The two lower roads had steep drops. We took the high road around the falls.

We worked our way up Douglas Creek. There were another six water crossings. There were a lot of people camping a long the way. The road took up us away from the creek into open fields on a gravel road. We drove north a few miles and then turned west onto 4 Rd SW which was a long dirt road. Miles down the dirt road there was a T. We turn north onto the gravel (Also 4Rd SW) and drove through Alstown where we found pavement. We hit the pavement and headed west on 3 1/2 Rd SW for a few miles. We turn to the south off the pavement back onto gravel on M Rd SW. The road spit after a few miles. We took the road on the right which was “Titchenal Canyon Rd SW”. At the top of the ridge the road slit again. We turned to the left I am not sure the name of the road due to I have different maps saying different names. That road starts off heading to the east and then turn toward the south. We took that road past Duffy Creek and all the way down Rock Island Grade to the end. That put us back at the Columbia River. That is where we aired back up.

We drover north to Wenatchee and crossed the bridge over the Columbia River to go do Part 3 – Colockum Wildlife Area.
