On Saturday March 12th 2022 we headed to the Yakima River Canyon to camp overnight and hike some trails. We planned to camp at Umtanum Recreation Area but there were no campsites left and we needed three. We ended up camping at Big Pines. We lucked out to get three campsites next to each other. We shared a spot with TJ40, Don and his youngest son parked their rigs in a space next to us, and Scott got a spot across for us.
After camp was set up, Doc and Odo hiked up the Baldy Mountain Trail to see the views. They took a radio up with them and called me from a trail above camp. I got some photos of them and Doc took photos of the view. They came back down and cook dinner.
We sat around the propane fire in the pop-up telling stories into the night.
Sleeping in the camper, the heater ran most of the night. Every few hours I would wake up from a train passing through. It was easy falling back to sleep from the sound of the train cars.
Sunday morning was very nice. There was a little cold breeze here and there as we ate breakfast in the pop-up.
We packed up an hour early due to the time change and checkout was at 11 AM. We parted ways from camp.
This was a great time thanks to all who camp.
