Wagons East is our Jeep trip on the Historical Naches Pass Trail. The trail is famous because the Longmire party was the first wagon train to used it to head west in 1853. The trail was not finished so they had a rough time getting across. They had to winch down the Naches Trail Cliffs near Greenwater. On our Wagons East Jeep trip, we start at the Naches Trail Cliffs and go west to east.

On Wednesday, October 6th 2021, Odo and I headed up to the Lost Meadow Campground in the Little Naches area to set up camp for the Eastern Washington Expeditions Wagons East camp out. It was close to dark by the time we got the EWE Chuckwagon Mess Hall set up. Odo cooked us up Dutch Oven Enchiladas.

Thursday morning there was some frost on the ground. Odo cooked up us some breakfast. TJ40 pulled into camp around noon. He set up came and then we headed out exploring some roads we never had been on. We found some dry firewood and hauled it back to camp. It was still early so we headed up some roads around Bear Creek to see what was up them. We found closed gates on all of them. We went back to camp for the night. We sat around the propane fire in the EWE Chuckwagon Mess Hall as Odo cooked up some food. Odo forgot the cabbage for the Tinfoil Dinners so he came up with a plan to cook what we had for them in cast iron. Oh it turned out great.

Friday morning it was frosty again. TJ40 decided to get an early start on fixing his Jeep in case he had to run to town for parts. For some reason the caliber was sticking making the disk hot. He put it back together and it seemed to work right again. Others in our group showed up throughout the day. 99 and BP-Tree joined Odo in the EWE Chuckwagon Mess Hall to cook up some burritos for dinner. Most everyone else sat outside around the campfire telling stories.

Saturday morning we had a lot of help at the EWE Chuckwagon Mess Hall with the potluck breakfast. We had a driver meeting to follow and then headed out to wheel the Naches Pass Trail.

We headed over Pyramid Pass to the west end of the Naches Pass 4×4 Trail. We broken into two groups to head back east. The two groups met up at FS7065 on the Naches Trail and then again at FS7080.

There was a group fixing some of the bridges in the Government Meadows area. Two in our group continued up the trail to help fix the bridges and the rest of us drove Pyramid Pass over to the East side then headed up FS1914-793 to get back on the Naches Pass Trail. Once on the trail we stopped for lunch.

After lunch we kept heading East on the Naches Pass Trail. At FS1914 two of the rigs turned off and headed back to camp. We stopped off for a break at a viewpoint. After the break we worked our way east on the Naches Pass Trail to FS1913 and then headed back to camp.

Back at camp we had fun around the campfire and had a great potluck dinner by volunteers at the EWE Chuckwagon.

Sunday morning the weather was nice. We had a good potluck breakfast cooked by volunteers at the EWE Chuckwagon. Most of the group headed home after breakfast. Most of the rest of us took a drive up to Raven Roost. It was very windy and very cold there. We headed back to camp and loaded for home.

This was a great time thanks to all who came.
