The Pioneer Power Show started in 1981. Tractors, Wheat Threshing/Binding, Bread Making, Swap Meet, Horse Demos, Equipment Parade & More in Union Gap every 3rd weekend in August. Hosted by The Central Washington Antique Farm Equipment Club, and the Central Washington Agricultural Museum.

On Friday, August 19th, 2016 we set up the Selah Sweets Food Trailer up in Union Gap, Washington out front of the Central Washington Agricultural Museum by the foot bridge for the annual Pioneer Power Show & Swap Meet.

Saturday at 8 AM the Pioneer Power Show & Swap Meet started. There were many fun things to do and to watch; Tractor pulls, horse powered farm equipment demos, a working sawmill, a working blacksmith shop, music, rides, equipment parades, and so much more. It was a very fun event for the whole family.

Upper Valley Relay For Life – Selah 2016

On Saturday August 13th, and Sunday August 14th 2016 the annual Upper Valley Relay For Life in Selah took place at Wixon Park.

The Upper Valley Relay for Life in Selah had many games and activities for all who came and participated to join in. Some of the crowd favorites were the Balloon toss, the wet tee-shirt contest, and the Mr. Relay. Alot of booths had their own activities that the public was able to join in as well.

On Saturday night they lit the walking path with bags of remembrance, and in memory of people who have had cancer, who are battling with cancer and those who have died from cancer.

Sunday morning Selah Sweets held a pancake breakfast for the vendors and public to enjoy.

This event was open to everyone not just people who have been diagnosed with cancer, had family with cancer or so on.

On the evening of Thursday August 11th 2016, the Selah Chamber of Commerce had a Business After Hours get together at Viking Village hosted by Selah Downtown Association.

The Selah Downtown Association had many refreshments and appetizers for people to enjoy.

The Selah Chamber of Commerce had a 50/50 raffle and the Selah Downtown Association had some door prizes to give out.

Along with the Business After Hours people were able to get a look inside Tailgaters Bar and Grill for a sneak peak of what is to come.

This was a great event for everyone who came and we hope to see you at the next business after hours.

On Friday August 12th 2016, Eastern Washington Adventures of Selah set up camp at Red Saddle Trailhead in the Ahtanum State Forest west of Yakima, Washington for the Washington Off Highway Vehicle Alliance Meet & Greet and DNR volunteer opportunity.

Washington Off Highway Vehicle Alliance (WOHVA) is a non-profit volunteer organization in the State of Washington. Every dollar received goes towards making your off road experience in our great state better.

Saturday morning was the official day of the Washington Off Highway Vehicle Alliance Meet & Greet. Different clubs took groups out on the trails around the area. There were runs for Dirt-bikes, Side by Sides, ATVs, and 4×4 rigs. Some of the run were hard core and others just easy sightseeing drives in the mountains.

Eastern Washington Adventures hosted a 4×4 run across Divide Ridge East on 4W613. The run started at 10 AM from Red Saddle Trailhead and convoyed to Nasty Creek Corrals were people aired down their tires for a better ride. Next was the long dusty drive to Louie Way Gap where the 4W613 trail started. The trip headed southwest from Louie Way Gap to Blue Lake and then back down the Ahtanum North Fork back to Red Saddle Trailhead. There were a few stops to look off Divide Ridge down on Rimrock and across at Mount Rainier.

Back at Red Saddle Trailhead, WOHVA had a free dinner for the guest that started at 5 PM. Around 7 PM there was raffle. There were many donated items from many businesses and groups to be raffled off. Auburn Car Repair & Offroad donated a $1000 to WOHVA to help their cause.

This was one of the best ORV events I have attended in a long time. Many hope WOHVA will do it again in Eastern Washington.

Photos: Selah Cub Scout Pack 276 Camp-out at Ahtanum State Forest

On Thursday evening August 4th 2016, Selah Cub Scout Pack 276 set up camp at Ahtanum Campground in the Ahtanum State Forest west of Yakima, Washington for a weekend Scout Camp-out and DNR volunteer opportunity.

The Scouts started off walking the Ahtanum Campground picking up trash in the camp sites and the Mid Fork Ahtanum Creek. Once the area was cleaned up, the Scouts set up camp.

After camp was set up and the Scouts had dinner, they set around the campfire playing games. There was a burn ban so the Scouts used a propane campfire which were allowed. Then it was off to bed.

Friday after breakfast, the Cub Scouts took a drive up the Mid Fork Ahtanum Creek road searched for a long stick for a flag pole and some to make a weather rock. Just below Tree Phones Campground they found long poles in piles of brush from a forest thinning project. They loaded the poles and headed back to camp. Once they got the flag up higher on the pole they found, they went for a swim in the creek.

Later in the day more Scouts arrived and set up their camps. Then it was a hotdog dinner and games. As it got dark,the Scouts moved over to enjoy the propane campfire. Then it was off to bed for the second night.

Saturday morning the Scouts started off with raising the flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. A pancake breakfast with bacon was next and then a back-road trip up to see the sights. Some of the places they went was up Whites Ridge 4×4 Trail, Snow Cabin Campground, Blue Lake, Darland Mountain, Clover Flats Campground, Eagle Nest, and Tree Phones Campground. From the view points they saw Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, and the Goat Rocks. They learned about reading maps and about the corner markers of Township and Range sections.

Back at camp the Scouts helped make a stew for dinner. After dinner the Cub Scouts gathered around the propane campfire, made smores, and then headed off to bed for the third night.

Sunday morning the Cub Scouts started off with raising the flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. Next there was a pancake breakfast with bacon.

After breakfast most broke down there camps. Before heading home, they took swim in the North Fork Ahtanum Creek at Ahtanum Meadows.

It was a very fun Cub Scout Camp Out.
