2016 Wagons East! Naches Pass Trail 4×4 Trip

The Historic Naches Pass Wagon Trail is one of the most poplar trails in the Northwest. We like to run this trail in the fall after the dust is gone and we do it in the opposite direction of the settlers for more of a challenge climbing the west end.

On Friday September 30th, 2016 Eastern Washington Adventures members met up at Lost Meadow to camp for the annual “Wagons East! Naches Pass Trail 4×4 Run”.

Saturday October 1st around 10 AM we headed from our camp at Lost Meadow off of NF19 to cross over to Pyramid Pass. On the West side a lot of others were there to wheel with us. We started up the Naches Pass Trail, and 4 more joined the group.

As always, the first section of trail took some time to top due to the steep climbs and rugged trail conditions.

We stopped at Government Meadows on Naches Pass 4×4 Trail to see the cabin.

The rest of the trail was just an easy drive other than having to watching out you did not fall off of one of the main bridges.

At FS1913 we turned off the Naches Pass Trail and said our goodbyes to many that came along. We went back to camp and to eat dinner around the campfire.

This was a great day thanks to all who came and the people we met on the trail.

On Sunday we woke up to everything covered in frost. At 9 AM we did a run up to Raven Roost. We ran the upper part of the Power-line Trail. The view was nice even though we did not get to see Mount Rainier. We did get to see Mountain Goats on a ridge across from us. One of the members had a camera with enough zoom to get some photo. My Galaxy 6 phone was not that good.

Selah Viking Pride Homecoming Parade
Report by Amanda Graham, photos by Clay Graham / Selah Sweets

At 6 PM Wednesday September 21st, 2016, the Selah Viking Crew hosted the 2nd Annual Viking Pride Homecoming Parade.

The parade ran north on 1st Street from the Selah Civic Center to the Selah Middle School parking lot.

People lined 1st Street with lawn chairs to watch. A lot of them wearing Viking gear, Viking clothing or Blue & Gold colors of Selah Vikings.

The community support was great! Thank you to all who helped make this great community parade happen. A special thank you goes out to Barb Petrea for her many hours of hard work putting everything together.

Report  and photos by Amanda Graham  / Selah Sweets

At 9AM on Tuesday August 30th 2016, the Selah Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Tailgaters Bar and Grill with Mayor Sherry Raymond.

They started off with cutting the ribbon and then went inside to look around the new bar. This was a really cool modern design with an outdoor seating for those who like the outside.

5th Annual Go Play Topless Weekend
Hosted by Eastern Washington Adventures.

Report by Clay Graham. Photos by Doc & Clay Graham / Selah Sweets

On the weekend of August 26th-28th, 2016 Eastern Washington Adventures held the 5th Annual Go Play Topless Weekend at their location in Selah, Washington. This year the event was sponsored by Selah Sweets.

Friday people came and set up camp at Eastern Washington Adventures. They gathered in the Club House to visit.

Saturday morning around 10 AM the group headed out for the run with five Jeeps. We convoyed through the Yakima River Canyon. At the Ellensburg side we stopped at Helen McCabe State Park for a break.

After the break we headed into Ellensburg to take Umtanum Road to the Wenas Wildlife area. At Durr Road we aired down and then continued up Durr Road. At the top of the Umtanum Ridge, we took the ridge road southeast to the end looking across the Yakima River Canyon at Baldy Mountain. We took a lunch break there.

After lunch we back tracked and ran Ridge Road to the end and down. We came out on North Wenas Road and headed back to the EWA Club House.

Back at the EWA Club House we had a potluck dinner and enjoyed sitting around the Club House watching slide shows of past events.

Sunday morning everyone packed up and headed for home.

Thank you to all who came.

For more information about this event you can visit the Go Play Topless at GoPlayTopless.com or on Facebook.
