Report and photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

The Forest Service is doing a project called, “Glass Angel Restoration Project” that will effect 4W697 – Clover Springs Trail AKA Glass Creek Trail.
See project info here: http://a123.g.akamai.net/7/123/11558…LT2_028834.pdf

The Forest Service let us know at the November 2nd, 2010 TWIG meeting we had a week to send in comments about the Glass Angel Project. So the Yakima/Kittitas Forest Watch decided to do a run to get pictures to send in with our comments to show the Ranger how tight the trails is and what will be missed if they remove all the trees they are talking about removing.

This was a very educational fun run thanks to who all came.

Here are the pictures and a report of our run:

On Saturday November 6th, 2010 we met up at the Oak Creek Ace Hardware store in Naches.

We had 5 rigs on this run. TJ40’s TJ, Guido’s TJ, Craigen’s XJ, Test Dummy’s XJ and 4WheelingPlus.com’s XJ.

Foxracer rode with 4WheelingPlus.com and I rode with Test Dummy.

We headed to the Nile Area and ran FS1600 up.

Here we pulled off to air down.

Forest Service quote,
“Approximately 2 miles (part of the 2.8 miles identified in this section) of System Trail 697 would be closed during timber harvest operations and used as a haul road. The trail would be rehabbed and returned to the trail system after harvest operations are completed.”

Well it looks like they are doing that in this section by the pink ribbons.
It looks as they are making the Trail 697 straight across the top of the ridge taking away from the adventure.

Liberty 4×4 Snow Run
By Clay Graham / CegPics.com

On Sunday October 31st, 2010 Eastern Washington Adventures members did a 4×4 Run in the Liberty area.

On this run it was Foxracer in his Rubicon, Craigen in his XJ and Jeff in his Sami.
I (Ceg) was riding with Craigen and our Eagle Scout guest Patrick was riding with Jeff.

The General report:
The lower trails were a little muddy. A few trail marks are down. We saw a few hunters and a few snow wheelers. We gave a little education about wheel vehicles have to stay on the roads/trails even if here is snow covering everything where no resource damage could happen.

This was a great run thanks to the people who came.

Here are some pictures of our run:

Ahtanum State Forest Sunday Drive
Report and photos by Clay Graham / Eastern Washington Adventures

On Sunday October 24th, 2010 we took a dive up to the Ahtanum State Forest. We stopped by Test Dummy’s house to let him know where we where headed in case we did not make it back.

Here are a few pictures of the day.

A nice Fall day at the Ahtanum State Forest.

Checking out the Ahtanum Sno-park.

There were a few Hunters Camps but no one around.
Photos: Ahtanum State Forest Sunday Drive 72

We next headed up the Mid Fork Road.

It started snowing on the way up. It was starting to accumulate by Tree Phones Campground and the road was white just up the road.

It got a little slick so we just went as far as Eagle Nest.

We turned on to the Eagle Nest Vista Loop and parked near the trail head.

My new dog Ranger wasn’t sure about the white stuff at first.

The kids wanted out to play. Of course they did not have their snow gear.

Sami had to run the tire tracks to get around.

Here Sami is trying follow Ranger.
Photos: Ahtanum State Forest Sunday Drive 84

Not bad amount of snow at Eagle Nest for this time of year.
Photos: Ahtanum State Forest Sunday Drive 85

We did not stay long at Eagle Nest since the wind starting to snow drift the road down.

Down at Tree Phone the snow was coming a lot more than when we past through earlier.
Photos: Ahtanum State Forest Sunday Drive 86

I had to get a fall picture of the Mid Fork on the way down.
Photos: Ahtanum State Forest Sunday Drive 87

We past through the Ahtanum Sno-park and headed up A2400. We found the user made trail we block off two weeks before was reopened.
Good place for the trail cam since some does not want to follow the rules.

Up at Red Saddle there was a trace of snow.

Taking a look down Sedge Ridge 4×4 Trail.

We headed on down and out the South Fork Road.

On this day we saw a lot of camps but no one around.
We did pass one pickup on A2400. It was a quiet day at the Ahtanum State Forest.

Halloween 4×4 Run to Funny Rocks
Report and photos by Clay Graham / CegPics.com

On October 23rd, 2010 we met up at the Eastern Washington Adventures Club House in Selah and started to headed out about 10:20 AM. Crawl Dad’s Toyota broke a tie rod as we were pulling out. Crawl Dad decided to just stay back and have his son come and help him get the rig home.

Here are some pictures of our day.

We headed on out South Wenas Road toward the North Wenas Area.

Not to far down the road the Tweety Jeep had a fender flare come loose. We turned onto Fletcher Lane and found a safe place to pull off to fix it. A lot of the others went on to the air down point.
Photos: EWOR Halloween 4×4 Run to Funny Rocks 92

They did not make it far because of cattle crossing the road. Most turned around to go a different route. Two of the rigs stayed behind to block the cattle from walking down the road.

Here we are at the air down point which was at the end of the pavement of North Wenas Road.
